Electronic Dice – Code and Circuit Complete

Electronic Dice – Code and Circuit Complete

by | Dec 30, 2009

YouTube Video VVU4d1loOUFGektOMmZNUkdLMkJiNlpBLmdWN2xQU1g2U1dJ This the complete coding of a PIC16F627 for an electronic dice and integrated into its own circuit, The PIC code was developed using an EasyPIC5 development board. A switch has been added to move between normal dice mode and a weighted "6" dice mode. It was programmed in C using the free evaluation version of MikroC Pro.

YouTube Video VVU4d1loOUFGektOMmZNUkdLMkJiNlpBLjF4V1RjTDdlcUFF See my other video for more details of the code. This is my second attempt at coding in C and my first effort at a circuit. It looks a mess but it works!
<br />I need to edit the code a little, it stops too abruptly so I`ll add a delay so it slows down as the dice reveals the count. There are two counts going on in the code. A slow looping code to display the shaking effect and then a much faster actual throw dice count which is displayed at the end.

YouTube Video VVU4d1loOUFGektOMmZNUkdLMkJiNlpBLmoyVGlwT3F2aldv Still learning to program in C so although basic, I was pleased with the results. This is my second effort at a code.
<br />
<br />A button is pressed which cycles a display of slow rolling dice and initiates a fast cycle dice, When the button is released, the display reveals the outcome of the real fast rolling dice. Since the dice code is counting from 1 to 6 many thousands (million even?) of times a second, the randomness comes from the inability to control the release of the button in sync with a dice throw.
<br />
<br />The display shows a row of LEDs however I have had the code working with a 3 x 3 square of LEDs at the top of the board to display like a true dice. This PIC is now programmed so that 7 LEDs will light up as to display a dice face if arranged correctly:
<br />
<br />XXX     1XX     1XX     1 X 1     1X1     1X1
<br />X1X     XXX     X1X      XXX      X1X     1X1
<br />XXX     XX1     XX1      1X1      1X1     1X1
<br />
<br />I will hopefully build the circuit soon. The dev board used in this video is an EasyPic5 and the PIC is an old 16F627 programmed and wrote using mikroC Pro free Eval copy.

YouTube Video VVU4d1loOUFGektOMmZNUkdLMkJiNlpBLkQxYkdGWTNPUWxr This is the first run of my Boxford 8" Shaper that I have been trying to restore. I have converted the motor from the original 3ph to a single phase supply, re-made the drive pully which had chipped and finally cleaned and oiled as well as getting over some other mini hurdles! I got this some months ago and it has taken a good while to get running. I have made a bit of swarf with it and it looks to be working fine but more video`s to come shortly of it cutting the metal stuff. I`ve never used a shaper so please feel free to leave any info or words of wisdom.
