This a Hemingway filing attachment. One important aspect I missed in the video is that unlike a commercial did filer, requiring specialist files, this uses standard files installed upside down and therefore cuts on the down stroke. I picked this machine up a number of years
ago but it was dirty and needed a strip and rebuild. I decided to paint some of the main castings and strip and clean the rest of it. I believe this Hemingway kit was originally designed to be used in a lathe. However this one has a 44RPM geared motor making it more versatile, quick and easy to use. I admit, I’d probably speed it up a touch if I could – maybe 55rpm. I had a butterfly die filed many years ago but that was way to quick and aggressive so there is a balance point in terms of speed for small work.
