Cowelłs Lathe Digital Spindle Divider / Indexer - clock wheel cutting (90ME)
This is a digital indexer I have built for my Cowells 90ME lathe. This indexes the lathe head to allow parts to cut and divided in the lathe chuck. In my case, I specifically want it for clock wheel cutting. The pinion and wheel cutter spindle will be mounted on a vertical slide on the cross slide and the wheel blank mounted in the chuck. The indexer will then turn the appropriate number of divisions to cut the wheel.
The divider electronics is from World of Ward and designed by Steve Ward. The stepper motor is 3.1Nm and I am running this off a fairly cheap driver.
