Cowells Lathe 90ME and 90CW
A comparison between the Cowells 90ME and the 90CW. The 90ME is a more versatile model engineering lathe. The CW is the clock and watchmakers lathe. Whilst both share many castings, the CW really appeals to clockmakers due to the spindle directly accepting 8mm watchmakers collets. The original CW or earlier models were quite limiting, with the spindle only accepting collets. However the newer version, like in this video, still retains the 8mm collet holder but also a 22mm register which fits an adaptor to provide a M14x1 thread allowing all the ME spindle attachments (and chucks) to fit! I think this makes the CW much more versatile. However the ME is probably the preferred choice for less specialised and general model engineering use. Maybe got one of each! 🙂 Thanks for watching.
