Building the Tekippe Simple Regulator – An Unusual Simple Precision Clock (Part 1)
Welcome to the first episode in my new build series: the Tekippe Simple Regulator – a beautifully designed precision clock by Bernard Tekippe.
This isn’t just any pendulum clock. In an interesting design twist, the pallets are mounted directly to the pendulum, delivering impulse straight from the escape wheel without a crutch or arbor. It’s an interesting approach aimed at improving timekeeping accuracy—and I’ll be machining every part of it from raw stock.
In this video, I introduce the project, share a bit of background on Tekippe’s unique design and start the build.
None of this would have been possible without the excellent work of Steve7750 on the NAWCC forum, who started replicating Bernard’s clock and drawing up the plans. He has been kind enough to share his drawings and models! I will try and keep referencing him, but any 3d model or CAD drawing you see are his and he has given me permission to use them in the vids. Thanks Steve!
